Work Experience/Placement Program
At Altina Widllife Park we offer a Work Experience/Placement program. Student's are advised to only apply if they have a genuine interest in working in the Zoo industry as applications will be screened by Management. Prior to recruiting staff all applicants are“screened” by Managing Directors and progress through a series of interviews to allow for the best possible candidate to be given the opportunity to join our team.

MAINTENANCE & CONSTRUCTION/MULTI-SKILLED LABOURER
Altina Wildlife Park has an exciting opportunity for an applicant to be part of a recognised, accredited Wildlife Park. This position is for full-time employment, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with the possibility of overtime to complete daily duties. The successful applicant will assist with maintenance and construction projects at Altina. Due to the nature of this work and with regular deadlines to meet, it can be a fast paced environment with the entirety of the work being hands on.
Duties Include, but are not limited to:
Assist with general maintenance of the facilities, fences and fabrication of materials (welding a variety of steels), Repairs etc. General cleaning duties of work sites, work sheds and equipment, assist trades persons as requested, operation of plant machinery, irrigation as required, operating basic tools and machinery and construction of new exhibits for an ever-growing animal family.
This position requires the following:
The applicant must be fit for physical work, enthusiastic, able to demonstrate a high level of work-ethic/initiative, be able to work well as a team as well as unsupervised. Trade certificates/qualifications/licences as well as experience within the fields of maintenance, labouring, operating tools and equipment, driving/maintaining/servicing heavy machinery and welding would be an advantage.
CLOSING DATE: 5pm 20th March 2020
VOLUNTEER - Must be available at least 1 day per week for a minimum of 3 months.
Altina is always looking for fun, animal loving volunteers to join our team. Duties will include; basic animal handling, cleaning and basic maintenance of enclosures, food preparation etc. Hours are 8am-4pm.
Prior animal experience is necessary.
